Pride has many different areas you can help us out in, click on each of the below items to learn of the different areas where you can volunteer.
Interactivators
Do you have skills, knowledge, a game, or activity to share? Great - bring it to Pride!
Some ideas for interactivity are: yoga, arts & crafts, rope bondage, drumming, poi dancing, flag dancing, slip n' slide, underwater basket weaving, an more!
The people having the most fun at Pride will be Interactivators and the folks participating in their mayhem!
The Interactivators are Pride's ambassadors of FUN!
Greeters
The first person you see at Pride will be a Greeter!
The Greeters are Pride's ambassadors to new attendees and they set the tone for the event to follow.
Here's what Greeter / Opening Ceremony Volunteers do:
Welcome each person to Pride
Co-ordinate parking to maximize available area
Direct new arrivals to Pride Info Booth and theme camp areas
Help facilitate the opening ceremonies
pARTicipate
First you give. Then you're prepared to receive. The people who attend Pride are no mere "attendees", but rather participants in every sense of the word; they create the empowerment, the interaction, the art, the performance, and ultimately the experience of Pride.
Essential services like location, port-a-potties, and food vendors are provided; everything else is up to you!
You need to pARTicipate to make this a Proud experience! Only YOU can make it happen!
Ways you can pARTicipate:
Volunteer during the Opening Ceremonies
Create Art & Performance
Offer a Workshop
Volunteer at the Circus Concession
Bring a Theme Camp
Marshall the PArade
Help us Leave No Trace
Greet people
Department of Public Works - Set up / Take down
Offer your car / truck for carpooling / gear transport
Theme Camps
Pride is yous to create, and one of the best ways to do that is to gather a group of friends and create a theme camp.
Theme camps are participatory! They provide interactive experiences including performanes, games, and other opportunities to play.
Very often, they are decorated to match the camp's "theme", but sometimes the activity is more important than the decoration.
Here are some cool examples of theme camps:
Secrets of a good theme camp: keep it simple, make it interactive, and make it fun!
If you are bringing a theme camp, please let us know, this will help us get the word out so that people know about the cool stuff you are doing, plus it will help to ensure that if you need a special space, we can save a spot for you.
Submissions can be made by e-mailing: jade_evoy@victoriapridesociety.org and are due by June 25.
Leave No Trace
Leave No Trace aims to achieve just that... no trace that we were at the park.
Each year, Pride festivities are larger than the previous year, and we take pride in ensuring that the venues we use, are left cleaner than when we found them.
Help us clean up after Pride by staying later to help pick-up equipment, recycling, and garbage, so that we can Leave No Trace!
Each year, Pride could not happen without the volunteers who donate their time to plan, organize, and staff our events. Consider becoming a volunteer by filling out the form below.
